My Year of Living Mindfully

A lot of people are feeling burnt out right now. Between COVID, working pressure, all the things happening around the world, we are feeling incredibly overwhelmed and the overstimulation of news and current events isn’t helping. 

We are empaths, you and I, which means something. We take on the energy around us. We absorb and hold onto all the negative things, whether we want to or not, and it’s very difficult to let those things go. We feel for other people, and especially the people around us.  So really, if you think about it, we’re carrying the weight of the pressures of our world, and of the people we love and cherish, our friends, family, coworkers, etc. 

Needless to say, sometimes I wish I could snap my fingers and just feel immediately better, but that’s not the case all the time.  Sometimes, I have to really dig deep and do some intense self-work in order to feel relief.  As I’m sure you do, too. 

Activities like journalling, or scripting, or running and exercise are some incredible ways to release those pent up feelings, but sometimes I just don’t have time to weave those things into my daily life. 

So here’s what I did…

Over the past year, I developed a calendar filled with events that have helped me RELEASE all the negative energy that I was exposed to.  Everyday, I tried one new activity or read chapters of a book that “supposedly” would help me experience peace, self-love and mindfulness. 

COVID and all the baggage that came with it has taken a huge toll on our mental health.  We are feeling disconnected from our friends and family, we are experiencing loneliness, depression, overwhelming boredom, suicide rates have skyrocketed, and if you’re anything like me, very stir crazy. But as I tried these exercises and activities, it gave me a sense of control and peace.  Two things that COVID took from me. 

So, this calendar, which I call “MY YEAR OF LIVING MINDFULLY” has over 365 daily activities that are fun, engaging and easy to incorporate into your daily life.  They are quick and easy methods to feeling peaceful, validated, and refreshed, which I think is something we all need right now. 

I truly believe that using these techniques and exercises has helped me not only survive the trying COVID-era, but I’ve been THRIVING.  My business, relationship, and mental health have never been better.

So, I’ve taken all the activities that have helped me and compiled them into two forms — a book and a calendar.  I wanted to make them as accessible as possible, because I truly see the value and benefit in them, and want everyone to feel as refreshed as I do, knowing that COVID probably wont be gone soon.  And that awful feeling of dread was overwhelming.
