Q: What is group coaching?

A: Group coaching is similar to a support group, but instead of talk-therapy style where we go around the room and talk about our experiences, we focus that energy and on an activity that will help all of us heal together.  The benefit of group coaching is that everyone comes from different backgrounds and experiences, but shares a foundational experience that unites us all.  It allows us to help each other grow and cheer each other on.  It’s creating a community to encourage, motivate and empower us all to keep climbing the mountain until we all reach the top together. It’s really a beautiful experience.  You leave with a stronger sense of self, and some amazing new friends who you feel extremely connected to.

Q: How much personalized time do I get if this is a group?

A: We are all growing together.  Each person has reflective time, and plenty of time to work with each other in smaller groups or pairs, which will give you the personalized time you need. But, if you feel that you need more personal or one-on-one time with either Marissa or Lila, that can be arranged as well.

Q: How many people per group?

A: We want to make these groups small, intimate groups, that allow us all to get to know each other. So we are capping each group coaching off at 20 people.

Q: Is it open to people of all genders?

A: Yes.  We believe that survivors come in all shapes, sizes, genders, etc. To exclude people based on gender is to “other” people within our community.  All genders are welcome. If there is a reason that someone is uncomfortable with that, it’s recommended that you reach out separately, and we’ll work something out with them.

Q: Is it anonymous, or do we share our names and faces?

A: This is a safe space. Everyone here is here to help you grow. The best way to start healing is to release what is holding you down. If you’re uncomfortable showing your face in the beginning, or identifying yourself, that’s understandable.  But the goal is to be empowered to recognize that this happened to you, but let the power it has over you go. If you’re not able to in the beginning, that’s completely understandable. By the end, you wont feel that way. That’s the goal.

Q: Is everyone in the group in the same place on their healing journey?

A: People join this group from all different parts of their journey. And everybody’s journey is a little bit different.  We don’t want you to compare yourself or where you are on your journey to other people. Everyone progresses differently. Everyone’s experiences are different.  But the cool thing about this group is, we are all in it to support and empower each other. What works for you might not work for someone else.  Or, you might try something that helps others.  We are a team.

Q; How do I know if it’s working?

A: Things will start to make more sense. You’ll start seeing small changes in how you feel. For example, I noticed that I didn’t hate looking at myself in the mirror anymore.  I didn’t hate what I saw.  And my smile felt more genuine.  Everyone experiences healing differently, because everyone is impacted by abuse differently.  But, using these tools and exercises, you’ll start to notice the world feels less heavy on your shoulders, and you’ll start to see things brighter than they were. It’s really a revelation. But we do weekly check ins so you can measure your healing and your growth, that way, if you don’t feel it immediately,  you’ll be able to literally see it.

Q: How do I know I’m safe in this group?

A: We strive to make sure that the culture of this group is positive, empowering and inclusive. This is a judgment-free zone, and will take necessary steps to maintaining a healthy atmosphere. Our overall goal is to help each other grow and heal.
